Arte Insomne was born in 2015 as a label that seeks to ally various artists for scenic projects in Costa Rica. We generate agreements with the public and private sectors to stage issues of social and political interest in relation to the experiences of the participating artists. Our work aims to communicate through the Performing Arts the need to question or recognize ways of thinking or practices with the environment or with others. Within our proposals, topics related to migration, animal abuse, interpersonal relationships: parents-children-classmates-teachers, death, masculinity, among others, have been addressed.

Arte Insomne generates plays, corporate activations, characters and cultural activities, workshops for communities, artistic design in lighting, puppets or graphics, as well as work related to communication for the performing arts. Among our productions, the following stand out: Arena (2019), The Archimedean Principle (2018), Frappé a story of Dogs! (2016), We Lost Kevin (2015). And we have collaborated in the production of the XIV Young People Directing Season of the University Theater (2017), the “Chronicle of a Little Soul” Project of the UCR Faculty of Arts (2017) and The Age of Ira (2019) winner of the II Contest of Staging. of the University Theater.

Our productions have been presented in various Costa Rican theaters such as: National Theater of Costa Rica, Vargas Calvo Theater, Espressivo Theater, 1887 Theater of the National Theater Company, University Theater, Atahualpa del Cioppo Theater and Theater of the Faculty of Arts UCR . Likewise, we have collaborated with various Municipalities such as: Cartago, San José, Santa Ana and Heredia. Also with the University of Costa Rica, the Cartaginés Culture Center, the Social Benefit Fund of the National University, the Cartago University College, the TEC Psychopedagogical Workshop, among others.

We have participated in various festivals such as: Santa Cruz Guanacaste Cultural Week, Amubis Festival, Cartago City House Scenic, Carthaginian Theater Festival, Transitarte Festival, Heredian Nights, and International Arts Festival.

We greatly appreciate the support of outside partners who wish to support our work so that we can bring our independent theater to communities or student groups with limited resources. As a way to democratize the arts and encourage participation in reflection on issues of social interest.
